Defence minister and military chiefs spend Christmas with troops fighting Boko Haram

                              

NIGERIA'S defence chiefs including the ministers and military top command broke with tradition
and spent the Christmas season alongside their troops in the northeast in a bid to provide exemplary leadership to the soldiers.
Traditionally, Nigerian leaders spend Christmas and other public holidays holding lavish parties for friends and family but this year, given the challenges the military is facing, it has been more low key. Yesterday, defence minister Muhammad Dan-Ali and the army's top commanders spent the day in the trenches with their troops in appreciation of the sacrifices they are making.
A retired army brigadier himself, Mr Dan-Ali spent the day in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital where he assured soldiers of the government’s determination to provide the needed logistics to ensure an expeditious end to the Boko Haram insurgency. Sharing a Christmas lunch with the soldiers, Mr Dan-Ali acknowledged some of the challenges facing the operations and noted that most of the challenges were being addressed.

World's fattest man dies aged 38: Mexican who weighed 70st suffered Christmas Day

    Andres Moreno, who weighed 980lbs at his heaviest passed away on the morning of Christmas
    Day while he was being rushed to hospital from his home ciudad Obregon in sonara mexixo.

He suffered a fatal heart attack in the ambulance and could not be revived, his publicist said.

'Andres died at 8.30am on Christmas Day in an ambulance from a heart attack as he was taken from his house to San Jose Hospital,' publicist Carmen Palacios said in a statement today.
